The Merry Month of May!

So, May is here and we are now well into the Bank Holiday season.   Easter was followed in rapid succession by May Day: not to be confused with the May Bank Holiday on Monday May 29th.   Then we also have August to look forward to!

Why all the Bank Holidays?

The May Bank Holiday was originally a moveable feast.  It was to celebrate Whit Monday, the day after Pentecost, which relates the date of Easter. However, in 1971 it was replaced with a fixed date of the last Monday in May.   May Day was introduced in 1978 by Michael Foot, just before he became leader of the Labour Party; and should Jeremy Corbyn win the forthcoming election there are promises of four more Bank Holidays to come!

Bank Holidays are often the time when we look round our homes and decide to make some changes.   Changes that will not only improve our living environment, but will add value and appeal to our home when the time comes to move.  There is seemingly an ever changing list of what improvements do and do not add value, but either adding a new bathroom or improving an existing one is always up there as a good thing to do.

Top Five Bathroom Trends for 2017

A recent article in Ideal Home listed their top five bathroom trends for this year:

  • Heritage Style: vintage-inspired glamour and timeless elegance
  • Shimmer and Shin e: pale, glossy finishes that reflect light for a bright and open feel
  • The Natural Look: tactile textures of warm wood and smart stone for earthy elegance
  • Drama and Impact:  use splashes of intense colour and statement patterns to bring life to your bathroom
  • Show-Stopping Showers: walk-in showers and wetrooms for spa-like glamour

At Stone and Chrome we are pleased to incorporate many of the above features into our beautiful bathrooms, and will feature some of these in this column over the coming weeks and months.  All Stone and Chrome bathrooms are meticulously designed using leading edge technology before any work starts.  You will have a clear idea of how your bathroom will look on completion, and the confidence that everything will fit into place.

Virtual World designs

We are currently using computer aided interactive 3D and 4D design software from Virtual Worlds which has revolutionised the bathroom industry.  This technology – coupled with the experience and skills of our bathroom and wetroom designers – enables your bathroom design to be tweaked to perfection right from the start!

The Virtual World designs below have just been signed off by a client and we can’t wait to see the finished result!

At Stone and Chrome we offer two different types of design service.   We can either come out to your home to take our own measurements and pictures, or you can provide your own measurements and pictures and we will go through a series of questions with you to provide the information we need during the design process.

So, if the Bank Holiday season is inspiring you to install a new bathroom or replace your current bathroom then look no further than Stone and Chrome!

We need your vote!

Finally, we’re delighted to have been included in the finalists for BKU Magazine’s Bathroom Showroom of the Year and Retailer of the Year!   You can vote for us by clicking here.  Voting ends on 19th May.  We may not be able to offer you four more Bank Holidays if you do vote for us!   But, looking at the above designs we hope you’ll agree that we would be worthy winners.
