If you are planning a new bathroom for 2023, just where do you start? There are so many different factors to consider when designing a bathroom that it can all seem a bit overwhelming.
Our article Bathroom refurbishment : where do I start? covers some of the key steps to take when designing a new bathroom, to make sure that everything goes as well as it can, and that you are delighted with the results.
But you may also be interested to know about current trends in bathrooms, to give you some ideas and inspiration about what to choose.
So in this article we take a quick look at six key bathroom trends for 2023. We will cover:
- Strong colours
- Metallic fixtures and fittings
- Feature tiling
- Freestanding baths
- Spa and wellness
- Back to nature
Strong colours
We expect to see a trend for strong and intense bathroom colours in 2023. For example, think of bright colours such as greens and pinks, and earthy tones such as clay.
And as well as the bright colours, black is back! Whether you choose to have a completely black bathroom, or add black features such as bathroom accessories, taps and showers, you will be very on-trend in 2023.
Metallic fixtures and fittings
An emerging trend for 2023 is brushed metallic fittings. Think brushed bronze, gold or brass. Brushed metallic brings a warm finish to your bathroom, yet still with a very contemporary design.
However, if you do decide for a brushed metallic look, it’s best to make this a theme throughout your bathroom, and try to match the finishes on all fixtures such as taps, shower door and toilet seat hinges, flush buttons and radiator valves. This is one of the reasons why it is worth involving professional bathroom designers right from the start of the process, so that they can provide expert help and advice on every aspect of your bathroom design.
Feature tiling
At Stone and Chrome we love to use natural stone tiling in our bathrooms. Having tiling the same colour throughout the whole bathroom gives a very streamlined and elegant look to your bathroom. But another emerging bathroom trend is to have some feature tiling in your bathroom, such as a chessboard floor or chequered mosaic wall tiles.
Even using some feature tiling on a small section of your bathroom can give it a distinctive and contemporary finishing touch. We love the example pictured below of a stunning walk in shower with a feature wall tiled in Amazonite from Minoli.
Freestanding baths
Increasingly on the list of “must haves” for designer bathrooms is the freestanding bath. Baths are definitely coming back into fashion again, and a larger freestanding model just exudes luxury.
In our recent article How to make the most of a large bathroom, we explored the concept of creating different zones in your bathroom with a central feature such as a freestanding bath. Or you may prefer to locate it near the window for a real feeling of space and freedom.
Spa and wellness
Our recent article – Five ways to transform your bathroom into a spa – explored how many people want to make their bathroom into a haven for wellness – perhaps more like a spa than a typical bathroom. The article contains useful tips on how to do that, and it may be well worth considering the spa theme if you are planning a new bathroom in 2023. A dedicated spa-inspired space can become an important part of your daily life, where you can regularly spend time on self-care.
Back to nature
Closely linked to the spa and wellness theme is the growing desire that many people have to bring the outside in. Incorporating some natural elements in your bathroom brings a sense of getting back to nature, and focusing on what is important in life.
One way to do this is to feature some neutral shades and natural textures in your bathroom. The natural stone tiling and handmade wooden bathroom furniture that we create at Stone and Chrome are ideal ways to bring a sense of nature into your bathroom.
We hope that the above ideas have helped you to start thinking about some of the current bathroom trends that you would like to incorporate into your new bathroom. Why not let Stone and Chrome help you take things one step further towards making it all happen?
