The schools have gone back and often the first question your child will be asked is “What did you do this summer?” Some may be asked to write a story or poem about their summer shenanigans, or draw a picture, or perhaps do a little project including some further research about one of the places they or a classmate have visited.
But what about you? What did you do this summer? Hopefully, you’ve managed to take a bit of time off to spend with family and friends. But summer can also be a time for reflection: the very act of taking time out of your normal routine can give you the headspace to think about what needs changing in your life and your environment.
Some of us take this to extremes, with long To Do lists of things that need doing around the house and garden over summer – which can make it a relief to get back to work and “business as usual”! Unfortunately, most of the things on the list probably don’t get done, and the list itself has served to spoil your time off by making you feel guilty about all the things you are supposed to be doing!
If planning a new bathroom was on that To Do list, then fortunately Stone and Chrome are here to help. We have been quite busy this summer as you can see from the images below.
The best of both worlds
The images below are from a recent project to install a traditional cottage luxury ensuite. It offers the best of both worlds: an ideal blend of the traditional and the contemporary, and is distinctively elegant as well as cleverly practical
The main feature of the bathroom is the stunning his and hers vanity unit. We constructed this in Oak and painted it with Farrow & Ball Pavilion Gray. We then used a Carrera Marble worktop with under mount basins and Perrin & Rowe traditional three tap hole basin mixers. This unit is both practical and stylish, providing ample storage space but with a timeless, classic look. The unit is finished off perfectly with the addition of a bespoke bevelled mirror with wall mounted lights.
The beautiful cast iron bath from Burlington Baths is painted in Farrow & Ball Pavilion Gray, and coupled with brassware from Perrin & Rowe. There is also a spacious walk in ceiling mounted shower from Perrin & Rowe featuring a LED lit shower recess. The WC is from Silverdale.
Finally we made a bespoke inward hinged door taking into account the sloped ceiling. At Stone and Chrome we are used to working in both small and awkwardly shaped rooms, and can make the most of every inch of space available.
